Joseph’s 2 sons born to him in Egypt,

Ephraim and Manassah

There were 2 Golden Calves made by Jeroboam (from tribe of Ephraim), when he was given control of the Northern Kingdom of Israel.

One was set up in Bethel (“House of God”) and the other in Dan.

Ephraim, the son of Joseph is left out because he is the considered the Bride of Christ, the Lost Sheep, who Christ took the curse for and blotted out our sins.  (Bethel : “House of God”)

Genesis 30 : Dan and Naphtali

1And when Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister; and said to Jacob, Give me children, or else I die. 2And Jacob’s anger was kindled against Rachel: and he said, Am I in God’s stead, who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb? 3And she said, Behold my maid Bilhah, go in to her; and she shall bear on my knees, that I may also have children by her. 4And she gave him Bilhah her handmaid to wife: and Jacob went in to her. 5And Bilhah conceived, and bore Jacob a son.

6And Rachel said, God has judged me, and has also heard my voice, and has given me a son:  therefore called she his name Dan

7And Bilhah Rachel’s maid conceived again, and bore Jacob a second son. 8And Rachel said, With great wrestlings have I wrestled with my sister, and I have prevailed: and she called his name Naphtali.

Genesis 49 : Jacob Blesses his Sons (Tribes)

1And Jacob called to his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days. ….

16Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.

17Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder [H8207] in the path,

that bites the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.

18I have waited for your salvation, O LORD.

[H8207] שְׁפִיפֹן shᵉphîyphôn 1x  adder =  “horned snake, viper”

Psalm 62 :  Waiting on God

1Truly my soul waits on God: from him comes my salvation. 2He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved. 3How long will you imagine mischief against a man? you shall be slain all of you: as a bowing wall shall you be, and as a tottering fence. 4They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah. 5My soul, wait you only on God; for my expectation is from him. 6He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defense; I shall not be moved. 7In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. 8Trust in him at all times; you people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

9Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.

10Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart on them. 11God has spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongs to God. 12Also to you, O Lord, belongs mercy: for you render to every man according to his work.

The were prophecied to judge as one of the 12 tribes, God then judges them.

16Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.

Psalm 58 : God Judges the Earth

1Do you indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do you judge uprightly, O you sons of men? 2Yes, in heart you work wickedness; you weigh the violence of your hands in the earth. 3The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.

4Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stops her ear;

17Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder [H8207] in the path,

5Which will not listen to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely. 6Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: break out the great teeth of the young lions, O LORD.

Dueteronomy 33 : Moses Blesses 12 Tribes

Dan he said, Dan isa lion’s whelp: he shall leap from Bashan

7Let them melt away as waters which run continually: when he bends his bow to shoot his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces. 8As a snail which melts, let every one of them pass away: like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun. 9Before your pots can feel the thorns, he shall take them away as with a whirlwind, both living, and in his wrath. 10The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked. 11So that a man shall say, Truly there is a reward for the righteous: truly he is a God that judges in the earth.

Revelation 12 : The Woman and the Dragonthesign

1And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars: 2And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.

3And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns on his heads. 4And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born  5And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up to God, and to his throne. 6And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a 1260 days.

The War in Heaven

7And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, 8And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. 9And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceives the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.10And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brothers is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. 11And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives to the death.12Therefore rejoice, you heavens, and you that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has but a short time.

The Dragon Persecutes the Woman

13And when the dragon saw that he was cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. 14And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. 15And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. 16And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. 17And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

And he said, Here am I. 5And he said, Draw not near here: put off your shoes from off your feet, for the place where on you stand is holy ground. 6Moreover he said, I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and thbiblee God of Jacob. REvelation 3 : Message to Philadelphia

7“And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write:    He who is holy, who is true, who has the key of David, who opens and no one will shut, and who shuts and no one opens, says this:8‘I know your deeds. Behold, I have put before you an open door which no one can shut, because you have a little power, and have kept My word, and have not denied My name. 9‘Behold, I will cause those of the synagogue of Satan, who say that they are Jews and are not, but lieI will make them come and bow down at your feet, and make them know that I have loved you.

10‘Because you have kept the word of My perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of testing, that hour which is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. 11‘I am coming quickly; hold fast what you have, so that no one will take your crown. 12‘He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he will not go out from it anymore; and I will write on him the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God, and My new name. 13‘He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’

The Key of David

  • In Revelation, we see the church of Philadelphia has “the Key of David”.
  • David fought Goliath, the Giant Philistine, who everyone was afraid of.
  • He defeated him by slinging a rock into his forehead.
  • We see this same parallel in Revelation
  • The Key of David is reference to the “shoulder”

20And he blessed them that day, saying, In you shall Israel bless, saying, God make you as Ephraim and as Manasseh: and he set Ephraim before Manasseh. 21And Israel said to Joseph, Behold, I die: but God shall be with you, and bring you again to the land of your fathers. 22Moreover I have given to you one portion [h7926] above your brothers, which I took out of the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow.

I will cause those of the synagogue of Satan, who say that they are Jews and are not, but lieI will make them come and bow down at your feet,

This is the 2nd fulfillment of Joseph’s dreams where they come to bow at feet.

Genesis 37 : Joseph’s Dream

1Now Jacob lived in the land where his father had sojourned, in the land of Canaan. 2These are the records of the generations of Jacob.
Joseph, when 17 years of age, was pasturing the flock with his brothers while he was still a youth, along with the sons of Bilhah and the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives. And Joseph brought back an evil report about them to their father.3Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his sons, because he was the son of his old age; and he made him a varicolored tunic.4His brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers; and so they hated him and could not speak to him on friendly terms.

5Then Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him even more. 6He said to them, “Please listen to this dream which I have had; 7for behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and lo, my sheaf rose up and also stood erect; and behold, your sheaves gathered around and bowed down to my sheaf.” 8Then his brothers said to him, “Are you actually going to reign over us? Or are you really going to rule over us?” So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words.

They mocked him for his dream in that their fruit would bow down to his.

9Now he had still another dream, and related it to his brothers, and said, “Lo, I have had still another dream; and behold, the sun and the moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.” 10He related it to his father and to his brothers; and his father rebuked him and said to him, “What is this dream that you have had? Shall I and your mother and your brothers actually come to bow ourselves down before you to the ground?” 11His brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the saying in mind.

12Then his brothers went to pasture their father’s flock in Shechem. 13Israel said to Joseph, “Are not your brothers pasturing the flock in Shechem? Come, and I will send you to them.” And he said to him, “I will go.” 14Then he said to him, “Go now and see about the welfare of your brothers and the welfare of the flock, and bring word back to me.” So he sent him from the valley of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.

15A man found him, and behold, he was wandering in the field; and the man asked him, “What are you looking for?” 16He said, “I am looking for my brothers; please tell me where they are pasturing the flock.” 17Then the man said, “They have moved from here; for I heard them say, ‘Let us go to Dothan.’” So Joseph went after his brothers and found them at Dothan.

The Plot against Joseph

18When they saw him from a distance and before he came close to them, they plotted against him to put him to death.19They said to one another, “Here comes this dreamer! 20“Now then, come and let us kill him and throw him into one of the pits; and we will say, ‘A wild beast devoured him.’ Then let us see what will become of his dreams!”

First Mention of “David”

Ruth 4   : 17

And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

1 SAMUEL 17 :   4

Then a champion came out from the armies of the Philistines named Goliath, from Gath, whose height was 6 cubits and a span.

Revelation 17 : 4  The Woman on the Beast

4And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet color, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication

5And on her foreheadwas a name written,

MYSTERY BABYLON the GREAT,

THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS and

ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH

The Mystery Explained

7And the angel said to me, Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and ten horns.

8The beast that you saw was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. 9And here is the mind which has wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sits. 10And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he comes, he must continue a short space. 11And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goes into perdition. 12And the ten horns which you saw are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. 13These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength to the beast.

The Victory of the Lamb

14These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.  15And he said to me, The waters which you saw, where the whore sits, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. 16And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. 17For God has put in their hearts to fulfill his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled. 18And the woman which you saw is that great city, which reigns over the kings of the earth.

Revelation 13 : Beast of the Sea

4And they worshipped the dragon which gave power to the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying,  Who is like to the beast? who is able to make war with him?

And they will be filled like a sacrificial basin,
Drenched like the corners of the altar.

16And the LORD their God will save them in that day
            As the flock of His people;
For they are as the stones of a crown,
            Sparkling in His land.

17For what comeliness and beauty will be theirs!  Grain will make the young men flourish, and new wine the virgins.

Enoch : THe Fallen Angels

And it came to pass when the children of men had multiplied that in those days were born unto them beautiful and comely daughters.

And the angels, the children of the heaven, saw and lusted after them, and said to one another:

‘Come, let us choose us wives from among the children of men and beget us children.’

And they were in all 200; who descended in the days of Jared on the summit of Mount Hermon, and they called it Mount Hermon, because they had sworn and bound themselves by mutual imprecations upon it.

Genesis 6 : The Wickedness of Man (Matthew 24:36-51Mark 13:32-37Luke 12:35-48)

1And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, 2That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. 3And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. 4There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

5And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. 7And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repents me that I have made them.

Jesus built His church at the Base of Mt. HERMON where the Temple of Pan was and where He said the Gates of Hell would not prevail.

Matthew 21  : Peter’s Confession of Christ (Mark 8:27-30Luke 9:18-20John 6:66-71)

13When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? 14And they said, Some say that you are John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.15He said to them, But whom say you that I am? 16And Simon Peter answered and said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17And Jesus answered and said to him, Blessed are you, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood has not revealed it to you, but my Father which is in heaven. 18And I say also to you, That you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19And I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. 20Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

Jesus Predicts His Death and Resurrection (Mark 8:31-33Luke 9:21-22)

21From that time forth began Jesus to show to his disciples, how that he must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. 22Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from you, Lord: this shall not be to you. 23But he turned, and said to Peter, Get you behind me, Satan: you are an offense to me: for you mind not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

For the divisions of Reuben there were great thoughts of heart. 16Why stayed you among the sheepfolds, to hear the bleatings of the flocks? For the divisions of Reuben there were great searchings of heart.  17Gilead stayed beyond Jordan: and why did Dan remain in ships? Asher continued on the sea shore, and stayed in his breaches.

We have before us the opportunity to forge for ourselves and for future generations a New World Order–a world where the rule of law, not the law of the jungle, governs the conduct of nations. When we are successful–and we will be–we have a real chance at this new world order, an order in which a credible United Nations can use its peacekeeping role to fulfill the promise and vision of the U.N.’s founders. . . “

Christopher Columbus ship with Knights Templar Cross

Knights templar & Baphomet (/ˈbæfmɛt/)

is a term originally used to describe an idol or other deity that the Knights Templar were accused of worshipping and that subsequently was incorporated into disparate occult and mystical traditions. It appeared as a term for a pagan idol in trial transcripts of the Inquisition of the Knights Templar in the early 14th century.[1] The name first came into popular English usage in the 19th century, with debate and speculation on the reasons for the suppression of the Templars.[2]

Since 1856, the name Baphomet has been associated with a “Sabbatic Goat” image drawn by Eliphas Levi[3] which contains binary elements representing the “sum total of the universe” (e.g. male and female, good and evil, etc.).[4]

A binary code represents text, computer processor instructions, or other data using any two-symbol system, but often the binary number system’s 0 and 1.  All data entered into a computer, each letter, sends binary code to a processor which then in turns translates that into the data you see on a screen like so

Binary code came from Egypt

Lévi’s depiction of Baphomet is similar to that of The Devil in early Tarot.[47] Lévi, working with correspondences different from those later used by S. L. MacGregor Mathers, “equated the Devil Tarot key with Mercury,” giving “his figure Mercury’s caduceus, rising like a phallus from his groin.“[48]

Lévi believed that the alleged devil worship of the medieval Witches’ Sabbath was a perpetuation of ancient pagan rites. A goat with a candle between its horns appears in medieval witchcraft records,[49] and other pieces of lore are cited in Dogme et Rituel.

The Knight’s Templar order’s higher echelons in particular had also acquainted themselves with-and incorporated into their practice-beliefs based on the mystic teachings of the Cabala, the influence of the Bogomils, and Luciferians, thus leaving Christianity behind. According to the Templars, Jesus was a god ruling in another world, with little or no power in our present one. Satan was the lord of this material world of ours.

Now the rumors were confirmed: Candidates for the order were indeed required to deny God, Christ and the Saints, committed sacrilegious acts, spit and urinate onto the holy Cross, be kissed square on the mouth with the “Oscolum Infame” or “The Kiss of Shame” on the navel and buttocks by the more senior Knights Templars, during the initiation ceremony.

That they freely practiced homosexuality and other sexual perversions, that the Grand Master wielded total authority over everything, that they practiced rituals of sorcery and used Cabalistic symbolism was clear evidence that the order had had become a sect blasphemous to Christianity. Their questioning revealed yet another of their unorthodox practices: Without being specific, they had admitted to idolatry, but during their ongoing interrogation, it gradually emerged that without any doubt, they were worshipping Satan.

Matthew 12 : A House Divided(Mark 3:20-27Luke 11:14-23)

22Then was brought to him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, so that the blind and dumb both spoke and saw. 23And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David? 24But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow does not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.

25And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: 26And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand? 27And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges. 28But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come to you. 29Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.

30He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathers not with me scatters abroad.

The Unpardonable Sin(Mark 3:28-30)

31Why I say to you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven to men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven to men. 32And whoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whoever speaks against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

A Tree Recognized by its Fruit(Matthew 7:15-23Luke 6:43-45)

33Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.

34O generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

35A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. 36But I say to you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37For by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned.

The Sign of Jonah(Luke 11:29-32)

38Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from you. 39But he answered and said to them, An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: 40For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. 41The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here. 42The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.

Return of an Unclean Spirit(Luke 11:24-26)

43When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walks through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. 44Then he said, I will return into my house from where I came out; and when he is come, he finds it empty, swept, and garnished. 45Then goes he, and takes with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also to this wicked generation.

Jesus’ Mother and Brothers(Mark 3:31-35Luke 8:19-21)

46While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brothers stood without, desiring to speak with him. 47Then one said to him, Behold, your mother and your brothers stand without, desiring to speak with you. 48But he answered and said to him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brothers? 49And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brothers! 50For whoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

Leviticus 24 : Shelomith’s Son Blasphemes

10And the son of an Israelitish woman, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the children of Israel: and this son of the Israelitish woman and a man of Israel strove together in the camp; 11And the Israelitish woman’s son blasphemed the name of the Lord, and cursed. And they brought him to Moses: (and his mother’s name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan:) 12And they put him in ward, that the mind of the LORD might be showed them. 13And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 14Bring forth him that has cursed without the camp; and let all that heard him lay their hands on his head, and let all the congregation stone him. 15And you shall speak to the children of Israel, saying, Whoever curses his God shall bear his sin. 16And he that blasphemes the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemes the name of the Lord, shall be put to death.

An Eye for an Eye (Matthew 5:38-48Luke 6:27-36)

17And he that kills any man shall surely be put to death. 18And he that kills a beast shall make it good; beast for beast. 19And if a man cause a blemish in his neighbor; as he has done, so shall it be done to him; 20Breach for breach, eye[H5869] for eye[H5869], tooth for tooth: as he has caused a blemish in a man, so shall it be done to him again. 21And he that kills a beast, he shall restore it: and he that kills a man, he shall be put to death. 22You shall have one manner of law, as well for the stranger, as for one of your own country: for I am the LORD your God. 23And Moses spoke to the children of Israel, that they should bring forth him that had cursed out of the camp, and stone him with stones. And the children of Israel did as the LORD commanded Moses.

Aleister Crowley

The Baphomet of Lévi was to become an important figure within the cosmology of Thelema, the mystical system established by Aleister Crowley in the early twentieth century.

Baphomet features in the Creed of the Gnostic Catholic Church recited by the congregation in The Gnostic Mass, in the sentence:

“And I believe in the Serpent

and the Lion,

Mystery of Mysteries,

in His name BAPHOMET.“

Crowley asserted that Baphomet was :

  • a divine androgyne
  • and “the hieroglyph of arcane perfection”:

Seen as that which reflects. “What occurs above so reflects below, or As above so below”

This serpent, SATAN, is not the enemy of Man,

but He who made Gods of our race, knowing Good and Evil;

He bade ‘Know Thyself!’ and taught Initiation.

He is ‘The Devil’ of The Book of Thoth,

and His emblem is BAPHOMET,

the Androgyne who is the hieroglyph of arcane perfection…

He is therefore Life, and Love.

But moreover his letter is ayin, the Eye,so that he is Light;

[H5869] עַיִן ʻayin, ah’-yin;

and his Zodiacal image is Capricornus,

that leaping goat whose attribute is Liberty.”

Magick (Book 4),

The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn דָּן Dân, dawn;

was an organization devoted to the study and practice of

  • the occult,
  • metaphysics,
  • and paranormal activities
  • during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Known as a magical order,

  • the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn was active in Great Britain
  • and focused its practices on theurgy and spiritual development.

Many present-day concepts of ritual and magic

  • that are at the centre of contemporary traditions,
  • such as Wicca and Thelema,
  • were inspired by the Golden Dawn,
  • which became one of the largest single influences on 20th-century Western occultism.

The three founders,

  • William Robert Woodman, William Wynn Westcott, and Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers,
  • were Freemasons
  • and members of the Rosicrucians in Anglia
  • Westcott appears to have been the initial driving force behind the establishment of the Golden Dawn.

The Golden Dawn system was based on hierarchy and initiation like the Masonic Lodges;

  • however women were admitted on an equal basis with men.

The “Golden Dawn” was the first of three Orders, although all three are often collectively referred to as the “Golden Dawn”.

The First Ordertaught the basics of :

astrology,

tarot divination,

geomancy,

esoteric philosophy based on the Hermetic Qabalah,

and personal development through study and awareness of the 4 Classical Elements

 2 Peter 3

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. … 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat.

The Second or “Inner” Order(the Rosae Rubeae et Aureae Crucis (the Ruby Rose and Cross of Gold)) taught.

magic, including :

scrying,

astral travel,

and alchemy.

Quote from Abu Musa Jabir Ibn Hayyan also known as Geber  (a prominent Alchemist and Scientist).

He is sometimes referred to as the father of early chemistry.

All in the universe is governed by the number17

:  the metals for example have 17 ‘Power’,

the form of anything in the world is17  “

Jabir’s alchemical investigations were theoretically grounded in an elaborate numerology related to Pythagorean and Neoplatonic systems. The nature and properties of elements was defined through numeric values assigned the Arabic consonants present in their name, ultimately culminating in the number 17.

The Third Order was that of the “Secret Chiefs”,

  • who were said to be highly skilled;
  • they supposedly directed the activities of the lower two orders
  • by spirit communication with the Chiefs of the Second Order.

We come from the land of the Ice and Snow.
From the midnight sun where the hot springs flow.

Hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new land.
To fight the hordes and sing, and cry.
Valhalla, I’m coming

Always sweep with, with threshing oar.
our only goal will be the western shore.

EZEKIAL 8 : VISION OF IDOLATRY IN THE TEMPLE

1And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I sat in my house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, that the hand of the Lord GOD fell there on me. 2Then I beheld, and see a likeness as the appearance of fire: from the appearance of his loins even downward, fire; and from his loins even upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the color of amber. 3And he put forth the form of an hand, and took me by a lock of my head; and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that looks toward the north; where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provokes to jealousy. 4And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the vision that I saw in the plain.

5Then said he to me, Son of man, lift up your eyes now the way toward the north. So I lifted up my eyes the way toward the north, and behold northward at the gate of the altar this image of jealousy in the entry. 6He said furthermore to me, Son of man, see you what they do? even the great abominations that the house of Israel commits here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? but turn you yet again, and you shall see greater abominations.

7And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold a hole in the wall. 8Then said he to me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I had dig in the wall, behold a door. 9And he said to me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here. 10So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed on the wall round about. 11And there stood before them 70 men of the ancients of the house of Israel, and in the middle of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense went up12Then said he to me, Son of man, have you seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, the LORD sees us not; the LORD has forsaken the earth. 13He said also to me, Turn you yet again, and you shall see greater abominations that they do.

Isaiah 14 : Triumph over Babylon

12How are you fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how are you cut down to the ground, which did weaken the nations!

דָּן Dân, dawn;  Dawn = “morning”

13For you have said in your heart,

  1. I will ascend into heaven,
  2. I will exalt my throne above the stars of God:
  3. I will sit also on the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
  4. 14I will ascend above the heights of the clouds;
  5. I will be like the most High.

15Yet you shall be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

Gauls : Celtics : Druids : Nordic Vikings

The Galli of Gallia Celtica were reported to refer to themselves as Celtae by Caesar. Hellenistic folk etymology connected the name of the Galatians (Γαλάται, Galátai) to the supposedly “milk-white” skin (γάλα, gála “milk”) of the Gauls.[3] Modern researchers say it is related to Welsh gallu,[4] Cornish galloes,[5] “capacity, power”,[6] thus meaning “powerful people”.

The Irish word gall did originally mean “a Gaul”, i.e. an inhabitant of Gaul, but its meaning was later widened to “foreigner”, to describe the Vikings, and later still the Normans.[13] The dichotomic words gael and gall are sometimes used together for contrast, for instance in the 12th-century book Cogad Gáedel re Gallaib.

As adjectives, English has the two variants: Gaulish and Gallic. The two adjectives are used synonymously, as “pertaining to Gaul or the Gauls”, although the Celtic language or languages spoken in Gaul is predominantly known as Gaulish.

The Druids were not the only political force in Gaul, however, and the early political system was complex, if ultimately fatal to the society as a whole. The fundamental unit of Gallic politics was the clan, which itself consisted of one or more of what Caesar called pagi. Each clan had a council of elders, and initially a king. Later, the executive was an annually-elected magistrate. Among the Aedui, a clan of Gaul, the executive held the title of Vergobret, a position much like a king, but his powers were held in check by rules laid down by the council.

Religion Main article: Celtic polytheism

The Gauls practiced a form of animism,

  • ascribing human characteristics to
  • lakes, streams, mountains,
  • and other natural features and granting them a quasi-divine status.
  • Also, worship of animals was not uncommon;
  • the animal most sacred to the Gauls was the boar[25]
  •  which can be found on many Gallic military standards, much like the Roman eagle.

Their system of gods and goddesses was loose,

  • there being certain deities which virtually every Gallic person worshipped,
  • as well as clan and household gods.
  • Many of the major gods were related to Greek gods;
  • the primary god worshipped at the time of the arrival of Caesar was Teutates,
  • the Gallic equivalent of Mercury.
  • The “ancestor god” of the Gauls was identified by Julius Caesar in his Commentarii de Bello Gallico with the Roman god Dis Pater.[26]

Vikings (Old English: wicing“pirate”,[1]DANish and Bokmål: vikinger; Swedish and Nynorsk: vikingar; Icelandic: víkingar, from Old Norse) were Norse seafarers, mainly speaking the Old Norse language, who raided and traded from their Northern European homelands across wide areas of northern, central, eastern and western Europe, during the late 8th to late 11th centuries.[2][3] The term is also commonly extended in modern English and other vernaculars to the inhabitants of Viking home communities during what has become known as the Viking Age. This period of Nordic military, mercantile and demographic expansion constitutes an important element in the early medieval history of Scandinavia, Estonia, the British Isles, France, Kievan Rus’ and Sicily.[4]

Facilitated by advanced sailing and navigational skills, and characterised by the longship, Viking activities at times also extended into the Mediterranean littoral, North Africa, the Middle Eastand Central Asia. Following extended phases of (primarily sea- or river-borne) exploration, expansion and settlement, Viking (Norse) communities and polities were established in diverse areas of north-western Europe, European Russia, the North Atlantic islands and as far as the north-eastern coast of North America. This period of expansion witnessed the wider dissemination of Norse culture, while simultaneously introducing strong foreign cultural influences into Scandinavia itself, with profound developmental implications in both directions.

Popular, modern conceptions of the Vikings—the term frequently applied casually to their modern descendants and the inhabitants of modern Scandinavia—often strongly differ from the complex picture that emerges from archaeology and historical sources. A romanticised picture of Vikings as noble savages began to emerge in the 18th century; this developed and became widely propagated during the 19th-century Viking revival.[5][6]Perceived views of the Vikings as alternatively violent, piratical heathens or as intrepid adventurers owe much to conflicting varieties of the modern Viking myth that had taken shape by the early 20th century.

THE DRUIDS (“oak-knower”)

  • Old Irish druí
    • ‘druid, sorcerer’,
  • Middle Welsh dryw
    • ‘seer; wren’.

Based on all available forms, the hypothetical proto-Celtic word may then be reconstructed as

  • *dru-wid-s (pl. *druwides)  meaning “oak-knower”.

The two elements go back to the Proto-Indo-European

  •  roots *deru-[13]  and *weid-“to see”.

The sense of “oak-knower” or “oak-seer” is supported by Pliny the Elder, who in his Natural History considered the word to contain

  • the Greek noun drýs (δρύς), “oak-tree”[15]
  • and the Greek suffix -idēs (-ιδης).

  • Perhaps the most intriguing facet of Gallic religion is the practice of the Druids.
  • They were the high-ranking professional class in ancient Celtic cultures
  • The druids presided over human or animal sacrifices that were made in wooded groves or crude temples.
  • They also appear to have held the responsibility for preserving the annual agricultural calendar and instigating seasonal festivals which corresponded to key points of the lunar-solar calendar.
  • The religious practices of druids were syncretic and borrowed from earlier pagan traditions, with probably indo-European roots.
  • There is no certainty concerning the origin of the druids,
    • but it is clear that they vehemently guarded the secrets of their order and held sway over the people of Gaul.
  • Indeed, they claimed the right to determine questions of war and peace, and thereby held an “international” status.
  • In addition, the Druids monitored the religion of ordinary Gauls and were in charge of educating the aristocracy.
  • They also practiced a form of excommunication from the assembly of worshippers, which in ancient Gaul meant a separation from secular society as well.
  • Thus the Druids were an important part of Gallic society.
  • The nearly complete and mysterious disappearance of the Celtic language from most of the territorial lands of ancient Gaul, with the exception of Brittany France, can be attributed to the fact that Celtic druids refused to allow the Celtic oral literature or traditional wisdom to be committed to the written letter.[27]
  • The Celts practiced headhunting as the head was believed to house a person’s soul.
  • Ancient Romans and Greeks recorded the Celts’ habits of nailing heads of personal enemies to walls or dangling them from the necks of horses.[28]
  • While perhaps best remembered as religious leaders,
    • they were also legal authorities,
    • adjudicators,
    • lorekeepers,
    • medical professionals
    • and political advisors.

While the druids are reported to have been literate, they are believed to have been prevented by doctrine from recording their knowledge in written form, thus they left no written accounts of themselves. They are however attested in some detail by their contemporaries from other cultures, such as the Romans and the Greeks.

Deuteronomy 32: The Song of Moses

31For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges. 32For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter: 33Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps.[H6620] 34Is not this laid up in store with me, and sealed up among my treasures? 35To me belongs vengeance and recompense; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come on them make haste. 36For the LORD shall judge his people, and repent himself for his servants, when he sees that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left. 37And he shall say, Where are their gods, their rock in whom they trusted,

Job 20: Zophar: Triumph of the Wicked Short-lived

1Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said, 2Therefore do my thoughts cause me to answer, and for this I make haste. 3I have heard the check of my reproach, and the spirit of my understanding causes me to answer. 4Know you not this of old, since man was placed on earth, 5That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment? 6Though his excellency mount up to the heavens, and his head reach to the clouds; 7Yet he shall perish for ever like his own dung: they which have seen him shall say, Where is he? 8He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: yes, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night. 9The eye also which saw him shall see him no more; neither shall his place any more behold him. 10His children shall seek to please the poor, and his hands shall restore their goods. 11His bones are full of the sin of his youth, which shall lie down with him in the dust. 12Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue; 13Though he spare it, and forsake it not; but keep it still within his mouth: 14Yet his meat in his bowels is turned, it is the gall of asps[H6620]within him. 15He has swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly. 16He shall suck the poison of asps[H6620]: the viper’s tongue shall slay him17He shall not see the rivers, the floods, the brooks of honey and butter. 18That which he labored for shall he restore, and shall not swallow it down: according to his substance shall the restitution be, and he shall not rejoice therein. 19Because he has oppressed and has forsaken the poor; because he has violently taken away an house which he built not; 20Surely he shall not feel quietness in his belly, he shall not save of that which he desired. 21There shall none of his meat be left; therefore shall no man look for his goods. 22In the fullness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: every hand of the wicked shall come on him. 23When he is about to fill his belly, God shall cast the fury of his wrath on him, and shall rain it on him while he is eating. 24He shall flee from the iron weapon, and the bow of steel shall strike him through. 25It is drawn, and comes out of the body; yes, the glittering sword comes out of his gall: terrors are on him. 26All darkness shall be hid in his secret places: a fire not blown shall consume him; it shall go ill with him that is left in his tabernacle. 27The heaven shall reveal his iniquity; and the earth shall rise up against him. 28The increase of his house shall depart, and his goods shall flow away in the day of his wrath. 29This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed to him by God.

Psalm 58: Unjust Judges 1 [To the chief Musician, Altaschith, Michtam of David.]

Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men? 2 Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth. 3 The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies. 4 Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder[H6620] that stoppeth her ear;

5 Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers[H3907] , charming never so wisely.

[H3907] לָחַשׁ lâchash, law-khash’;   3 in 3  Charmers

  • by implication, to mumble a spell (as a magician):

Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: break out the great teeth of the young lions, O LORD.  7 Let them melt away as waters which run continually: when he bendeth his bow to shoot his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces. 8 As a snail which melteth, let every one of them pass away: like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun. 9 Before your pots can feel the thorns, he shall take them away as with a whirlwind, both living, and in his wrath. 10 The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked. 11 So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.

Psalm 91 :  My Refuge and My Fortress

1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. 3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. 4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. 5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; 6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. 7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. 8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. 9 Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; 10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. 11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. 12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. 13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder[H6620] the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. 14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. 15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. 16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

An adder stone is a type of stone, usually glassy, with a naturally occurring hole through it. Such stones have been discovered by archaeologists in both Britain and Egypt. Commonly, they are found in Northern Germany at the coasts of the North and Baltic Seas.

In Britain they are also called

  • hag stones,
  • witch stones,
  • serpent’s eggs,
  • snake’s eggs

In Germany they are called Hühnergötter (“chicken gods”). In Egypt they are called aggry or aggri.

Adder stones were believed to have magical powers such as protection against eye diseases or evil charms, preventing nightmares, curing whooping cough, the ability to see through fairy or witch disguises and traps if looked at through the middle of the stone, and recovery from snakebite. According to popular conception, a true adder stone will float in water.

Three traditions exist as to the origins of adder stones. One holds that the stones are the hardened saliva of large numbers of serpents massing together, the perforations being caused by their tongues. The second claims that an adder stone comes from the head of a serpent or is made by the sting of an adder. The third is more modern (and much easier to attain). It details that the stone can be any rock with a hole bored through the middle by water. Human intervention (i.e., direction of water or placement of the stone) is not allowed.[2]

Adder stone was held in high esteem amongst the Druids. It was one of their distinguishing badges, and was accounted to possess the most extraordinary virtues. There is a passage in Pliny’s Natural History, book XXII, describing the nature and the properties of this amulet. The following is a translation of it:

“There is a sort of egg in great repute among the Gauls, of which the Greek writers have made no mention. A vast number of serpents are twisted together in summer, and coiled up in an artificial knot by their saliva and slime; and this is called “the serpent’s egg”. The druids say that it is tossed in the air with hissings and must be caught in a cloak before it touches the earth. The person who thus intercepts it, flies on horseback; for the serpents will pursue him until prevented by intervening water. This egg, though bound in gold will swim against the stream. And the magi are cunning to conceal their frauds, they give out that this egg must be obtained at a certain age of the moon. I have seen that egg as large and as round as a common sized apple, in a chequered cartilaginous cover, and worn by the Druids. It is wonderfully extolled for gaining lawsuits, and access to kings. It is a badge which is worn with such ostentation, that I knew a Romanknight, a Vocontian, who was slain by the stupid emperorClaudius, merely because he wore it in his breast when a lawsuit was pending.”[3]

Huddleston’s edition of John Toland’s “History of the Druids” gives some very ingenious conjectures on the subject of this very enigmatical Druids’ egg. The amulets of glass and stone, which are still preserved and used with implicit faith in many parts of Scottish Gaeldom, and are conveyed, for the cure of diseases to a great distance, seem to have their origin in this bauble of ancient priestcraft.[4]

Witches often danced beneath the Oak Tree for ritual.

The druids would not meet for ritual if there was not an Oak tree present.

Pythagoras is often considered the first true mathematician.

The Pythagorean’s believed “all is number”, meaning that everything in the universe depended on numbers.

They were also the first to teach that the Earth is a sphere revolving around the Sun.

Diodorus Siculus, writing in 36 BCE, described how the Druids followed “the Pythagorean doctrine”.

The Mystery Religions also preserved a legend:

  • When heaven and earth joined together, gods descended to earth.
  • The gods possessed the knowledge of the universe:
    • the whole continuum of what can be known.
  • They bestowed on men the art of civilization:
    • government,
    • agriculture and science,
    • inventions
    • that we in modern times hold to be human achievements.
  • All science and learning was developed in the time when gods and man dwelt together.
  • The gods existed from the formation of the solar system and traveled between its worlds.
  • Their planetary civilization was unparalleled, their edifices and cities were magnificent.
  • Then, at some point in the dim past the realm of the gods was destroyed by a horrific cataclysm

Plutarch (from Wikipedia)

He lived most of his life at Chaeronea, and was initiated into the mysteries of the Greek god Apollo.

For many years Plutarch served as one of the two priests at the temple of Apollo at Delphi, the site of the famous Delphic Oracle, twenty miles from his home. By his writings and lectures Plutarch became a celebrity in the Roman Empire, yet he continued to reside where he was born, and actively participated in local affairs, even serving as mayor. At his country estate, guests from all over the empire congregated for serious conversation, presided over by Plutarch in his marble chair. Many of these dialogues were recorded and published, and the 78 essays and other works which have survived are now known collectively as the Moralia

According to Plutarch’s “Moralia“,

The Egyptians have a legend that the end of Osiris’ (Apollo) life came on the 17th of a month, on which day it is quite evident to the eye that the period of the full moon is over.

Now, because of this, the PYTHAGOREANS

call this day “THE BARRIER,”

and UTTERLY ABOMINATE THE #   17

For the number17, coming in between the square16 and the oblong rectangle18, which, as it happens, are the only plane figures that have their perimeters equal their areas, bars them off from each other and disjoins them, and breaks up the epogdoon by its division into unequal intervals .

The Twin Towers ::

Including the Height : Oblong Rectangle

Destroying the towers was their way of ritualistic way of joining heaven and earth.  Tearing down the pillars that held up heaven.

They hate the # of 17 because that is the date of the flood that destroyed all their works before the flood.

Paul lists   17 different works of the flesh

Galatians 5 : Living by the Spirit (Romans 8:9-11)

16This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that you cannot do the things that you would. 18But if you be led of the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these;

  1. Adultery,
  2. fornication,
  3. uncleanness,
  4. lasciviousness,
  5. Idolatry,
  6. witchcraft,
  7. hatred,
  8. variance,
  9. jealousies,
  10. wrath,
  11. strife,
  12. seditions,
  13. heresies,
  14. Contentions,
  15. murders,
  16. drunkenness,
  17. revelings,

and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

The main encampment area consists of 160 acres (65 ha) of old-growth redwood trees over 1,000 years old, with some trees exceeding 300 feet (91 m) in height.

The Bohemian Club’s all-male membership and guest list includes

Cremation of Carecremation_of_care2

In 1881, the ceremony of the Cremation of Care was first conducted after the various individual performances, with James F. Bowman as Sire.[5] The ceremony was further expanded in 1893 by a member named Joseph D. Redding,[6] with a Midsummer High Jinks entitled The Sacrifice in the Forest, or simply “Druid Jinks”, in which brotherly love and Christianity battled and won against paganism, converting the druids away from bloody sacrifice.[7] Redding formed the framework of the ceremony but the main actors, including George Tisdale Bromley as High Priest, were asked to supply their own major speeches.[7] In 1904, the prologue to William Henry Irwin’s Grove Play The Hamadryads included text such as “Touch their world-blind eyes with fairy unguents.”

The play depicted the intrusion, the battles, and the symbolic death of the maleficent Spirit of Care.[8]

The ceremony involves the poling across a lake of a small boat containing an effigy of Care (called “Dull Care”).

Dark, hooded figures receive from the ferryman the effigy which is placed on an altar, and, at the end of the ceremony, set on fire.

This “cremation” symbolizes that members are banishing the “dull cares” of conscience.[14]

At the time the script was developed, the primary meaning of the word ‘care’ (< O.E. cearu, “anxiety, anguish”) was synonymous with ‘worry’, having more negative connotations than in modern times when it tends to be associated more positively with compassion.[15]

The ceremony takes place in front of the Owl Shrine, a 40-foot (12 m) hollow owl statue made of concrete over steel supports. The moss- and lichen-covered statue simulates a natural rock formation, yet holds electrical and audio equipment within it. During the ceremony, a

recording is used as the voice of the Owl. For many years the recorded voice was club guest Walter Cronkite.[16] Music and pyrotechnics accompany the ritual for dramatic effect

The Club motto is “Weaving Spiders Come Not Here”, which implies that outside concerns and business deals (networking) are to be left outside. When gathered in groups, Bohemians usually adhere to the injunction, although discussion of business often occurs between pairs of members.[2]

Important political and business deals have been developed at the Grove.[5]

The Grove is particularly famous for the Manhattan Project planning meeting that took place there in September 1942, which subsequently led to the atomic bomb.

Those attending this meeting included

  • Ernest Lawrence,
  • J. Robert Oppenheimer,
  • the S-1 Executive Committee heads,
  • such as the presidents of Harvard, Yale, and Princeton,
  • along with representatives of Standard Oil and General Electric
  • as well as various military officials.

At the time, Oppenheimer was not an S-1 member, although Lawrence and Oppenheimer hosted the meeting.[8]

Grove members take particular pride in this event and often relate the story to new attendees.

The Manhattan Project

In 1942, the United States federal government chose Oak Ridge, Tennessee as a site for developing materials for the Manhattan Project.  The project location was established within a 17-mile-long (27 km) valley. This feature was linear and partitioned by several ridges, providing natural protection against the spread of disasters at the 4 major industrial plants—so they wouldn’t blow up “like firecrackers on a string.”[13]

Oak Ridge’s nicknames include

  • the Atomic City,[6]
  • the Secret City,[7]
  • the Ridge,
  • and the City Behind the Fence.

The 3 Oak Ridge Gatehouses, also known as

  • “checking stations”,  “guard houses”, or “guard shacks”,

are security checkpoints in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, built c. 1948-1949 to control access to the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) production and research facilities in Oak Ridge.

1 Samuel 17 : David Slays Goliath

31And when the words were heard which David spoke, they rehearsed them before Saul: and he sent for him. 32And David said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of him; your servant will go and fight with this Philistine. 33And Saul said to David, You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for you are but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.34And David said to Saul, Your servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: 35And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him. 36Your servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God. 37David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said to David, Go, and the LORD be with you. 38And Saul armed David with his armor, and he put an helmet of brass on his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail. 39And David girded his sword on his armor, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said to Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him. 40And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag which he had, even in a money; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.
