Uproot, Pulldown, Throw Away, Replant

Jeremiah 1 : The Call of Jeremiah  (2 Kings 24:18-202 Chronicles 36:11-14)

4Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 5Before I formed you in the belly I knew you; and before you came forth out of the womb I sanctified you, and I ordained you a prophet to the nations. 6Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. 7But the LORD said to me, Say not, I am a child: for you shall go to all that I shall send you, and whatever I command you you shall speak. 8Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with you to deliver you, said the LORD. 9Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said to me, Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.

10See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms,

to root out,

and to pull down,

and to destroy,

and to throw down,

to build,

and to plant.

11Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Jeremiah, what see you? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree.12Then said the LORD to me, You have well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.

Ezekial 17 : The Parable of Two Eagles and a Vine  (Matthew 13:24-30)

1And the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 2Son of man, put forth a riddle [h2420], and speak a parable to the house of Israel;

[h2420] חִידָה chîydâh, khee-daw’;  17x  a puzzle, hence, a trick, conundrum, sententious maxim:

3And say, Thus said the Lord GOD;

A great eagle with great wings, long winged, full of feathers [h4153], which had divers colours [h7553],

[h4153]  נוֹצָה nôwtsâh, no-tsaw’; or נֹצָה nôtsâh;  4x  plumage, feathers

  • a pinion (or wing feather); often (collectively) plumage:—feather(-s), ostrich.

Leviticus 1 : Burnt offerings for Fowl

14And if the burnt sacrifice for his offering to the LORD be of fowls, then he shall bring his offering of turtledoves, or of young pigeons. 15And the priest shall bring it to the altar, and wring off his head, and burn it on the altar; and the blood thereof shall be wrung out at the side of the altar: 16And he shall pluck away his crop with his feathers [h4153], and cast it beside the altar on the east part, by the place of the ashes: 17And he shall split it with the wings thereof, but shall not divide it asunder: and the priest shall burn it on the altar, on the wood that is on the fire: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet smell to the LORD.

[h7553]  רִקְמָה riqmâh, rik-maw’;  12x  versi-colored

  • from H7551; variegation of color;

Judges 5:Song of Deborah and Barak

(26) She put her hand to the nail, and her right hand to the workmen’s hammer; and with the hammer she smote Sisera, she smote off his head, when she had pierced and stricken through his temples. (27) At her feet he bowed, he fell, he lay down: at her feet he bowed, he fell: where he bowed, there he fell down dead. (28) The mother of Sisera looked out at a window, and cried through the lattice, Why is his chariot [so] long in coming? why tarry the wheels of his chariots? (29) Her wise ladies answered her, yea, she returned answer to herself, (30) Have they not sped? have they [not] divided the prey; to every man a damsel [or] two; to Sisera a prey of divers colours [h7553] , a prey of divers colours [h7553]   of needlework, of divers colours[h7553]  of needlework on both sides, [meet] for the necks of [them that take] the spoil?

came to Lebanon, and took the highest branch[h6788] of the cedar:

  • from the same as H6785;
  • fleeciness, i.e. foliage:—highest branch, top.

Ezekial 31 : Egypt will Fall Like Assyria

1And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the third month, in the first day of the month, that the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 2Son of man, speak to Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to his multitude; Whom are you like in your greatness? 3Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon with fair branches, and with a shadowing shroud, and of an high stature; and his top[h6788] was among the thick boughs. 4The waters made him great, the deep set him up on high with her rivers running round about his plants, and sent her little rivers to all the trees of the field. 5Therefore his height was exalted above all the trees of the field, and his boughs were multiplied, and his branches became long because of the multitude of waters, when he shot forth. 6All the fowls of heaven made their nests in his boughs, and under his branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young, and under his shadow dwelled all great nations. 7Thus was he fair in his greatness, in the length of his branches: for his root was by great

waters. 8The cedars in the garden of God could not hide him: the fir trees were not like his boughs, and the chestnut trees were not like his branches; nor any tree in the garden of God was like to him in his beauty. 9I have made him fair by the multitude of his branches: so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied him. 10Therefore thus said the Lord GOD; Because you have lifted up yourself in height, and he has shot up his top[h6788] among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height; 11I have therefore delivered him into the hand of the mighty one of the heathen; he shall surely deal with him: I have driven him out for his wickedness. 12And strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off, and have left him: on the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen, and his boughs are broken by all the rivers of the land; and all the people of the earth are gone down from his shadow, and have left him. 13On his ruin shall all the fowls of the heaven remain, and all the beasts of the field shall be on his branches: 14To the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves for their height, neither shoot up their top[h6788] among the thick boughs, neither their trees stand up in their height, all that drink water: for they are all delivered to death, to the nether parts of the earth, in the middle of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit.

15Thus said the Lord GOD; In the day when he went down to the grave I caused a mourning: I covered the deep for him, and I restrained the floods thereof, and the great waters were stayed: and I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him. 16I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to hell with them that descend into the pit: and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the nether parts of the earth. 17They also went down into hell with him to them that be slain with the sword; and they that were his arm, that dwelled under his shadow in the middle of the heathen.

18To whom are you thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? yet shall you be brought down with the trees of Eden to the nether parts of the earth: you shall lie in the middle of the uncircumcised with them that be slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, said the Lord GOD.

Tree – 3 year circumcision

The Cedar Forest is the glorious realm of the gods of Mesopotamian mythology.

It is guarded by the demigod Humbaba and was once entered by the hero Gilgamesh

who dared cut down trees from its virgin stands during his quest for fame.

4He cropped off the top of his young twigs, and carried it into a land of traffic; he set it in a city of merchants.

the land of Traffic = Canaan

[h7402]  רָכַל râkal, raw-kal’;  17 in 15   to travel for trading:—(spice) merchant.

  • a primitive root;

5He took also of the seed of the land, and planted it in a fruitful field; he placed it by great waters, and set it as a willow tree.

Willows are used as food plants by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species, such as the mourning cloak butterfly.[( spiny elm caterpillar)

Nymphalis antiopa, known as the mourning cloak in North America and the Camberwell beauty in Britain, is a large butterfly native to Eurasia and North America.

6And it grew, and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and the roots thereof were under him: so it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs.

7There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers: and, behold, this vine did bend her roots toward him, and shot forth her branches toward him, that he might water it by the furrows of her plantation.

8It was planted in a good soil by great waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a goodly vine.

9Say you, Thus said the Lord GOD; Shall it prosper? shall he not pull up the roots thereof, and cut off the fruit thereof, that it wither? it shall wither in all the leaves of her spring, even without great power or many people to pluck it up by the roots thereof.

10Yes, behold, being planted, shall it prosper? shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind touches it? it shall wither in the furrows where it grew.

The Parable Explained

11Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 12Say now to the rebellious house, Know you not what these things mean? tell them, Behold, the king of Babylon is come to Jerusalem, and has taken the king thereof, and the princes thereof, and led them with him to Babylon; 13And has taken of the king’s seed, and made a covenant with him, and has taken an oath of him: he has also taken the mighty of the land: 14That the kingdom might be base, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping of his covenant it might stand. 15But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that does such things? or shall he break the covenant, and be delivered? 16As I live, said the Lord GOD, surely in the place where the king dwells that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he broke, even with him in the middle of Babylon he shall die. 17Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company make for him in the war, by casting up mounts, and building forts, to cut off many persons:18Seeing he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, when, see, he had given his hand, and has done all these things, he shall not escape. 19Therefore thus said the Lord GOD; As I live, surely my oath that he has despised, and my covenant that he has broken, even it will I recompense on his own head. 20And I will spread my net on him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, and will plead with him there for his trespass that he has trespassed against me. 21And all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword, and they that remain shall be scattered toward all winds: and you shall know that I the LORD have spoken it.

22Thus said the Lord GOD; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it on an high mountain and eminent: 23In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell. 24And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it.

Isaiah 14 : God’s Restoration of Israel

1For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall join to the house of Jacob. 2And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.

Triumphant Exultation over Babel

3And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give you rest from your sorrow, and from your fear, and from the hard bondage wherein you were made to serve,

4That you shall take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How has the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!

5The LORD has broken the staff of the wicked, and the scepter of the rulers.

6He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hinders.

7The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing.

8Yes, the fir trees rejoice at you, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, Since you are laid down, no feller is come up against us.

9Hell from beneath is moved for you to meet you at your coming: it stirs up the dead for you, even all the chief ones of the earth; it has raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.

10All they shall speak and say to you, Are you also become weak as we? are you become like to us?

11Your pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of your viols: the worm is spread under you, and the worms cover you.

12How are you fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how are you cut down to the ground, which did weaken the nations!

13For you have said in your heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also on the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

14I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

15Yet you shall be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

16They that see you shall narrowly look on you, and consider you, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;

17That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?

18All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.

19But you are cast out of your grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcass trodden under feet.

20You shall not be joined with them in burial, because you have destroyed your land, and slain your people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.

21Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.

22For I will rise up against them, said the LORD of hosts, and cut off from Babylon the name, and remnant, and son, and nephew, said the LORD. 23I will also make it a possession for the bittern, and pools of water: and I will sweep it with the besom of destruction, said the LORD of hosts.

God’s Purpose against Assyria

24The LORD of hosts has sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand: 25That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and on my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders. 26This is the purpose that is purposed on the whole earth: and this is the hand that is stretched out on all the nations. 27For the LORD of hosts has purposed, and who shall cancel it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?

Philistia will Be Destroyed

28In the year that king Ahaz died was this burden.

29Rejoice not you, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote you is broken: for out of the serpent’s root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.

30And the firstborn of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety: and I will kill your root with famine, and he shall slay your remnant.

31Howl, O gate; cry, O city; you, whole Palestina, are dissolved: for there shall come from the north a smoke, and none shall be alone in his appointed times.

32What shall one then answer the messengers of the nation? That the LORD has founded Zion, and the poor of his people shall trust in it.

Matthew 3:

10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees:

therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Matthew 7:

17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Matthew 12:

33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good;

or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt:

for the tree is known by his fruit.

There were 2 type of trees planted in the garden; producing 2 types fruit.

Eve ate the fruit that was forbidden and plunged man into sin.

Jesus came as the new seed.

God made us to bear fruit to him.

In Revelation we see that the earth is harvested.

The good fruit shall took root and inherit the earth.

The bad fruit shall be plucked up by the roots and cast into the fire.

MATTHEW 13 : THE PARABLE OF THE WEEDS

24Another parable put he forth to them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened to a man which sowed good seed in his field: 25But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.26But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. 27So the servants of the householder came and said to him, Sir, did not you sow good seed in your field? from where then has it tares?28He said to them, An enemy has done this.

So 2 SEEDS were planted producing 2 DIFFERENT TYPES OF FRUIT.

GENESIS 3 : THE EXPULSION FROM PARADISE

24So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubim, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

 GALATIANS 3

26For you are all the children of God

by faith in Christ Jesus. 27For as many of you as

have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither

bond nor free, there is neither male nor female:

for you are all one in Christ Jesus.  .

‘God made them male and female.’a

7‘For this reason a man will leave his

father and mother and be united to his wife,b

8and the two will become one flesh.

c So they are no longer two, but one flesh.

9Therefore what God has joined together,

let man not separate.”

The servants said to him, Will you then that we go and gather them up?29But he said, No; lest while you gather up the tares, you ROOT up also the wheat with them. 30Let both grow together until the harvest:  and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather you together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

THE PARABLE OF THE WEEDS EXPLAINED

36Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came to him, saying, Declare to us the parable of the tares of the field.  37He answered and said to them, He that sows the good seed is the Son of man;

38The field is the world;

THE GOOD SEED are the CHILDREN OF THE KINGDOM;

but THE TARES are the CHILDREN OF THE WICKED ONE;

39The enemy that sowed them is the devil;

the harvest is the end of the world;

and the reapers are the angels. 40As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be at the end of this world 41The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; 42And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.43Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who has ears to hear, let him hear.

tare is a plant that commonly grows in fields of grain. And although it looks similar to an edible grain, it isn’t suitable for food.  In fact, many feel the specific tare, or weed, referred to in this parable is the darnel, a poisonous weed that is very similar in appearance to wheat.

They look almost identical up until near the time of the harvest.

Then you can see the tares standing tall (prideful) and the wheat boughed over (humbled)

threshingfloor was originally “…’to tramp or stamp heavily with the feet’…” and was later applied to the act of separating out grain by the feet of people or oxen and still later with the use of a flail.

Sheaves of Grain would be opened up and the stalks spread across the threshing floor.

Pairs of donkeys or oxen (or sometimes cattle, or horses) would then be walked round and round, often dragging a heavy threshing board behind them, to tear the ears of grain from the stalks, and loosen the grain itself from the husks.

Husk, is the outer protective coating on the hull, on the fruit, on the seed, that becomes chaff.   IE…Maize’s Ear of Corn leafy outer casing shell covering grow on the yellow fruit’s shell hull.

The chaff would be blown away by the wind; the short torn straw would fall some distance away; while the heavier grain would fall at the winnower’s feet. The grain could then be further cleansed by sieving.
