The Golden Calf

As soon as israel was delivered out of Egypt,

the first thing they did while Moses was in the mount …

fashioned a calf out of the metals that they wore

ribbonPsalm 106   :The Golden Calf

19They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image.  20Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eats grass.  21They forgot God their savior, which had done great things in Egypt;  22Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red sea.  23Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.  24Yes, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word:  25But murmured in their tents, and listened not to the voice of the LORD.

ribbonExodus 32 : The Golden Calf

1And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron, and said to him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we know not what is become of him. 2And Aaron said to them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them to me. 3And all the people broke off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron. 4And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a engraving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be your gods, O Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt. 5And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD. 6And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.

Moses Informed of Israel’s Sin

7And the LORD said to Moses, Go, get you down; for your people, which you brought out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves: 8They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be your gods, O Israel, which have brought you up out of the land of Egypt. 9And the LORD said to Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiff necked people: 10Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of you a great nation.  11And Moses sought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why does your wrath wax hot against your people, which you have brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand?12Why should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from your fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against your people. 13Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants, to whom you swore by your own self, and said to them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give to your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever. 14And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do to his people.

Moses Descends with the Tablets

15And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written. 16And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven on the tables. 17And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said to Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp.  18And he said, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear.

They were not trying to humble themselves and learn to God’s ways, they rose up to play.

Moses Breaks the Tablets

19And it came to pass, as soon as he came near to the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses’ anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and broke them beneath the mount.20And

he took the calf which they had made,

and burnt it in the fire,

and ground it to powder,

and strewed it on the water,

and made the children of Israel drink of it.

21And Moses said to Aaron, What did this people to you, that you have brought so great a sin on them?22And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot: you know the people, that they are set on mischief.23For they said to me, Make us gods, which shall go before us: for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we know not what is become of him. 24And I said to them, Whoever has any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf.

25And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked to their shame among their enemies:)

Genesis 3:10And he said, I heard your voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. 11And he said, Who told you that you were naked?

Have you eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded you that you should not eat? 12And the man said, The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. 13And the LORD God said to the woman, What is this that you have done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

26Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD’s side? let him come to me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together to him. 27And he said to them, Thus said the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbor. 28And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men. 29For Moses had said, Consecrate yourselves today to the LORD, even every man on his son, and on his brother; that he may bestow on you a blessing this day.

Moses Intercedes for Israel

30And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said to the people, You have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up to the LORD; peradventure I shall make an atonement for your sin. 31And Moses returned to the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold.

32Yet now, if you will forgive their sin—  and if not, blot me, I pray you, out of your book which you have written.

33And the LORD said to Moses, Whoever has sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.

34Therefore now go, lead the people to the place of which I have spoken to you: behold, my Angel shall go before you: nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin on them. 35And the LORD plagued the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made.

ribbonCOLOSSIANS 2 : Built Up in Christ

1 For I would that you knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh; 2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgment of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; 3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. 4 And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words. 5 For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, rejoicing and beholding your order, and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.

Message to the Church in Laodicea

14And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things said the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;  15I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot: I would you were cold or hot. 16So then because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of my mouth. 17Because you say, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and know not that you are wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: 18I counsel you to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that you may be rich; and white raiment, that you may be clothed, and that the shame of your nakedness do not appear; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.

19As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. 20Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. 21To him that overcomes will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. 22He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit said to the churches.

Alive in Christ

6 As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk you in him: 7 Rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.  8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And you are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: 11 In whom also you are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: 12Buried with him in baptism, wherein also you are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who has raised him from the dead. 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, has he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

ribbonNUMBERS 5 :THE ADULTERY TEST

11And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 12Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them, If any man’s wife go aside, and commit a trespass against him, 13And a man lie with her carnally, and it be hid from the eyes of her husband, and be kept close, and she be defiled, and there be no witness against her, neither she be taken with the manner; 14And the spirit of jealousy come on him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be defiled: or if the spirit of jealousy come on him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be not defiled: 15Then shall the man bring his wife to the priest, and he shall bring her offering for her, the tenth part of an ephah of barley meal; he shall pour no oil on it, nor put frankincense thereon; for it is an offering of jealousy, an offering of memorial, bringing iniquity to remembrance.

16And the priest shall bring her near, and set her before the LORD: 17And the priest shall take holy water in an earthen vessel; and of the dust that is in the floor of the tabernacle the priest shall take, and put it into the water: 18And the priest shall set the woman before the LORD, and uncover the woman’s head, and put the offering of memorial in her hands, which is the jealousy offering: and the priest shall have in his hand the bitter water that causes the curse: 19And the priest shall charge her by an oath, and say to the woman, If no man have lain with you, and if you have not gone aside to uncleanness with another instead of your husband, be you free from this bitter water that causes the curse: 20But if you have gone aside to another instead of your husband, and if you be defiled, and some man have lain with you beside your husband:

21Then the priest shall charge the woman with an oath of cursing, and the priest shall say to the woman, The LORD make you a curse and an oath among your people, when the LORD does make your thigh to rot, and your belly to swell; 22And this water that causes the curse shall go into your bowels, to make your belly to swell, and  your thigh to rot:  And the woman shall say, Amen, amen.  23And the priest shall write these curses in a book,  and he shall blot them out with the bitter water:  24And he shall cause the woman to drink the bitter water  that causes the curse: and the water that causes  the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter.

25Then the priest shall take the jealousy offering out of the woman’s hand, and shall wave the offering before the LORD, and offer it on the altar: 26And the priest shall take an handful of the offering, even the memorial thereof, and burn it on the altar, and afterward shall cause the woman to drink the water. 27And when he has made her to drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be defiled, and have done trespass against her husband, that the water that causes the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall rot: and the woman shall be a curse among her people.

28And if the woman be not defiled, but be clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive seed.

29This is the law of jealousies, when a wife goes aside to another instead of her husband, and is defiled; 30Or when the spirit of jealousy comes on him, and he be jealous over his wife, and shall set the woman before the LORD, and the priest shall execute on her all this law. 31Then shall the man be guiltless from iniquity, and this woman shall bear her iniquity.

This is the handwriting of ordinances written on the scroll that were contrary to us or against us and that were washed off the scroll into the cup. Then was nailed to the cross and to Jesus. He had to drink as prescribed in the law for the wife (Israel) accused of adultery.   This is the curse mentioned in Numbers 5:21, that he took away from us.

ribbonMATTHEW 5 : JESUS FULFILLS THE LAW

17  Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets:  I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.  18For truly I say to you, Till heaven and earth pass,  one stroke or one pronunciation mark shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19Whoever therefore shall break one of these  least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven:  but whoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

ribbonJeremiah 3 :  Israel’s and Judah’s Unfaithfulness

6The LORD said also to me in the days of Josiah the king, Have you seen that which backsliding Israel has done? she is gone up on every high mountain and under every green tree, and there has played the harlot. 7And I said after she had done all these things, Turn you to me. But she returned not. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it.8And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce;

yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also. 9And it came to pass through the lightness of her prostitution, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks. 10And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah has not turned to me with her whole heart, but feignedly, said the LORD.

God divorced the Northern Kingdom (Israel) because they hardened their hearts and rejected God’s Law in pursuing other Gods.    They are truly, no longer His people.   Israel today is only known by the Southern Kingdom today…Judah.

Under King Solomon rule, he led Israel to follow other gods.  So after Solomon died, He gave 10 tribes of Israel to Jeroboam and 2 to Judah.

ribbonDeuteronomy 24 : Law of Divorce

1When a man has taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favor in his eyes, because he has found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorce, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house. 2And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man’s wife. 3And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorce, and gives it in her hand, and sends her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be his wife; 4Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the LORD: and you shall not cause the land to sin, which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance.

This was a great mystery to all the priests and rabbis.  They wondered how can He remarry the very one He divorced and declared to have given herself over to prostitution.
sdfw
God can not break the very righteous laws that define his own Righteousness.  Breaking the law of God is Sin, the law defines sin according to God’s own words.  God cannot Sin.  How then can God remarry the lost sheep of Israel without breaking His own Law?

This is what ‘THE PRODIGAL SON’ is all about.

THE PRODIGAL SON is EPHRAIM who was considered DEAD.

The son of Joseph who was the son of Rachel, the son and wife Jacob loved most.

ribbonLUKE 15 : THE PRODIGAL SON

11And he said, A certain man had two sons: 12And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me. And he divided to them his living. 13And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. 14And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. 15And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. 16And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave to him. 17And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! 18I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before you, 19And am no more worthy to be called your son: make me as one of your hired servants. 20And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. 21And the son said to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight, and am no more worthy to be called your son. 22But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: 23And bring here the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: 24For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

ribbonRomans 6 : Dead to Sin, Alive to God

(2 Corinthians 4:7-18)

1What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? 3Know you not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that from now on we should not serve sin. 7For he that is dead is freed from sin.

ribbon1 CORINTHIANS 15 : THE RESURRECTION BODY

35But some man will say, HOW ARE THE DEAD RAISED UP? AND WITH WHAT BODY DO THEY COME? 36You fool, THAT WHICH YOU SOW IS NOT QUICKENED, EXCEPT IT DIE: 37And THAT WHICH YOU SOW, YOU SOW NOT THAT BODY THAT SHALL BE, BUT BORE GRAIN, IT MAY CHANCE OF WHEAT, OR OF SOME OTHER GRAIN: 38But God gives it a body as it has pleased him, and to every seed his own body. 39All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. 40There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. 41There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differs from another star in glory.

A seed ceases to be a seed in order that the plant would live and it gives life to a new body.

42So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: 43It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: 44It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 45And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 46However, that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. 47The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven. 48As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. 49And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

Jesus became the new Adam, we as the bride of Christ, who are dead in Him, become the new Eve who was taken from Adam’s rib (bone), undefiled nor beguiled by the serpent.

ribbon1 CORINTHIANS : THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD

12Now if Christ is preached that he hath been raised from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?  13But if there is no resurrection of the dead, neither hath Christ been raised: 14and if Christ hath not been raised, then is our preaching vain, your faith also is vain. 15Yea, we are found false witnesses of God; because we witnessed of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead are not raised. 16For if the dead are not raised, neither hath Christ been raised: 17  and IF CHRIST HATH NOT BEEN RAISED, YOUR FAITH IS VAIN; YE ARE YET IN YOUR SINS. 18Then they also that are fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19If we have only hoped in Christ in this life, we are of all men most pitiable.

20But now hath Christ been raised from the dead, THE FIRSTFRUITS of them that are asleep.21For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. 22For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. 23But each in his own order: CHRIST THE FIRSTFRUITS;  THEN THEY THAT ARE CHRIST’S, AT HIS COMING.

24THEN COMETH THE END, WHEN HE SHALL DELIVER UP THE KINGDOM TO GOD, EVEN THE FATHER; WHEN HE SHALL HAVE ABOLISHED ALL RULE AND ALL AUTHORITY AND POWER. 25For he must reign, till he hath put all his enemies under his feet. 26The last enemy that shall be abolished is death. 27For, He put all things in subjection under his feet. But when he saith, All things are put in subjection, it is evident that he is excepted who did subject all things unto him. 28And when all things have been subjected unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subjected to him that did subject all things unto him, that God may be all in all.

ribbonROMANS 8 : FUTURE GLORY

18For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed to us-ward.19For the earnest expectation of the creation waiteth for the revealing of the sons of God. 20For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but by reason of him who subjected it, in hope 21that the CREATION ITSELF ALSO SHALL BE DELIVERED FROM THE BONDAGE OF CORRUPTION INTO THE LIBERTY OF THE GLORY OF THE CHILDREN OF GOD. 22FOR WE KNOW THAT THE WHOLE CREATION GROANETH AND TRAVAILETH IN PAIN TOGETHER UNTIL NOW.

2And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.

Paul described the groaning of creation, the groaning of believers, and the graoning of the Holy Spirit. TRAVAIL GIVES BIRTH TO A NEW CREATION.  Christians have only the firstfruits-the pledge of more to come in our salvation.  We groan because of our fallen nature.  OUR NEW RESURRECTION BODIES WILL CONFORM US TO JESUS’ GLORIFIED BODY.

23And not only so, but ourselves also, who have THE FIRST-FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for our adoption, to wit , the redemption of our body.   24For in hope were we saved: but hope that is seen is not hope: for who hopeth for that which he seeth? 25But if we hope for that which we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

21And the LORD said to Moses, When you go to return into Egypt, see that you do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in your hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go. 22And you shall say to Pharaoh, Thus said the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn: 23And I say to you, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if you refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay your son, even your firstborn.

24And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him. 25Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband are you to me. 26So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband you are, because of the circumcision.

Jesus came as the Son of God, Israel.  Israel was no longer son because of disobedience.  Jesus was son because of obedience.   When He died on the cross, the marriage covenant was made void because He died as the true son, Israel.  So now we can be reunited with Yahweh if we are in Him.

He came to redeem His people so they could come back into covenant relationship with Him.

Just as Egyptians left with the Hebrews in the Exodus by way of the Passover lamb,
Christ has opened the door that whosoever can call upon Him will be saved.

Jesus died not only so he could remarry his divorced bride,THE NORTHERN KINGDOM | EPHRAIM ,  but he took the place of her judgement that was prescribed in the law.

ribbon JOHN 1 : THE WORD MADE HIS DWELLING AMONG US

17 For THE LAW was given by Moses, but GRACE and TRUTH came by Jesus Christ.

He came as the word, to die in our place.  The only way the covenant could be annulled was through death of either partner. This was his goal, to die as the Son of God, to restore that which was lost.

NAILING THAT JUDGEMENT TO THE CROSS.

He had to drink from the cup, the cup of bitter water, that was to given to the wife, accused of adultery.  He knew what the outcome of the cup would bring,  therefore he prayed for it be taken away, while in the Garden of Gethsemane.  It was these ordinances written on the scroll that were contrary to us or against us and that were washed off the scroll into the cup.    Then was nailed to the cross and to Jesus.

Now we know why Jesus prayed in the garden…

The THIGH is representative a person’s word or credibility, or even authority. Used in matters of keeping one’s word. This is why we see oath’s given why a man’s hand was under the others thigh.

The thigh wasting away was representative of ones credibility being useless.  When Jesus did not give the crowds proof of being the Son of God, His credibility meant nothing.

40and saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself: if thou art the Son of God, come down from the cross. 41In like manner also the chief priests mocking him , with the scribes and elders, said, 42He saved others; himself he cannot save. He is the King of Israel; let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe on him. 43He trusteth on God; let him deliver him now, if he desireth him: for he said, I am the Son of God

He held no credibility with them.   Yet there will be no mistaking his word, credibility, or authority, at his second coming.   His thigh will make it very clear.

The strongest muscle in the body is the quadricep, in the thigh.  How did his thighs waste away on the cross?    It was the thighs that one used in raising themselves up,  in order to breathe when being crucified.    After all of this suffering and torture that happened before ever seeing the cross.  Then after several hours on the cross, constantly lifting himself up, on the cross, just to struggle to breath, his thighs finally gave way.    Which shows how he suffocated after saying, “It is finished”.   Because truly his thighs could lift him no more.   There was no strength left and he suffocated as a result of his thighs wasting away.

Our lungs expand towards the least resistance given.  In a relaxed state, that expansion is downward.  Our Savior had been up all night in a mock trial, plus we know he was stressed because his sweat was mixed with blood, the night of praying in the garden.

He didn’t enter this day on a good night’s sleep, on a nice mattress. So he has been up over 24 hours, after being smacked around by the Pharisees, and having his beard pulled, he gets beat up by the Roman soldiers, then presented to his people, with a crown of thorns. Then he gets flogged to the point of hardly having human recognition.

14Like as many were astonished at thee (his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men),

Then he has to carry the weight of his own cross.  Every breath he took on the cross was in weakness, not strength.  His lungs filled with fluids while hanging on the cross why in the hands of the Romans.    The shear weight of the lungs would have been enough to push down on the abdomen and push it out.  His stomach  was pushed out just like in the curse given to the unfaithful wife in Numbers 5:21.

27And when he hath made her drink the water, then it shall come to pass, if she be defiled, and have committed a trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her and become bitter, and her body shall swell, and her thigh shall fall away: and the woman shall be a curse among her people.

ribbonJOHN 19 : THE DEATH OF JESUS

28After this Jesus, knowing that all things are now finished, that the scripture might be accomplished, saith, I thirst. 29There was set there a vessel full of vinegar: so they put a sponge full of the vinegar upon hyssop, and brought it to his mouth.

 What scripture is fulfilled here?

How many times did he say this, when he only said it because the scripture said it would happen that way?

Like the donkey. Did He need the donkey to go into Jerusalem? Of course not. He did it because the scripture said it was going to happen that way. Things that were prophesied, he had to make sure they happened, so those around would have no excuse for not seeing prophecy taking place right before their eyes. Yet other prophecies that required action from others were clearly orchestrated by the spirit.

ribbonJOHN 19

24They said therefore one to another, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my garments among them, And upon my vesture did they cast lots.

34howbeit one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and straightway there came out blood and water. 35And he that hath seen hath borne witness, and his witness is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye also may believe. 36For these things came to pass, THAT THE SCRIPTURE MIGHT BE FULFILLED, A bone of him shall not be broken. 37And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

So what scripture needed to be fulfilled from John 19:28 that He needed to drink something?  What was He given to drink?  Wine Vinegar from a sponge.  In essence, that which is bitter.

ribbonEzekial 36 : The Lord’s Holy Name

16Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 17Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelled in their own land, they defiled it by their own way and by their doings: their way was before me as the uncleanness of a removed woman. 18Why I poured my fury on them for the blood that they had shed on the land, and for their idols with which they had polluted it: 19And I scattered them among the heathen, and they were dispersed through the countries: according to their way and according to their doings I judged them. 20And when they entered to the heathen, where they went, they profaned my holy name, when they said to them, These are the people of the LORD, and are gone forth out of his land. 21But I had pity for my holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the heathen, where they went.

A New Heart and Spirit

22Therefore say to the house of Israel, thus said the Lord GOD; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for my holy name’s sake, which you have profaned among the heathen, where you went. 23And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which you have profaned in the middle of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, said the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.24For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. 25Then will I sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. 26A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and you shall keep my judgments, and do them. 28And you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and you shall be my people, and I will be your God. 29I will also save you from all your uncleannesses: and I will call for the corn, and will increase it, and lay no famine on you. 30And I will multiply the fruit of the tree, and the increase of the field, that you shall receive no more reproach of famine among the heathen. 31Then shall you remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations. 32Not for your sakes do I this, said the Lord GOD, be it known to you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel.

33Thus said the Lord GOD; In the day that I shall have cleansed you from all your iniquities I will also cause you to dwell in the cities, and the wastes shall be built. 34And the desolate land shall be tilled, whereas it lay desolate in the sight of all that passed by. 35And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are become fenced, and are inhabited. 36Then the heathen that are left round about you shall know that I the LORD build the ruined places, and plant that that was desolate: I the LORD have spoken it, and I will do it.

37Thus said the Lord GOD; I will yet for this be inquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them; I will increase them with men like a flock. 38As the holy flock, as the flock of Jerusalem in her solemn feasts; so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men: and they shall know that I am the LORD.

ribbon EZEKIAL 37 : The Valley of Dry Bones

1The hand of the LORD was on me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the middle of the valley which was full of bones, 2And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, see, they were very dry. 3And he said to me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, you know. 4Again he said to me, Prophesy on these bones, and say to them, O you dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. 5Thus said the Lord GOD to these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live: 6And I will lay sinews on you, and will bring up flesh on you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live; and you shall know that I am the LORD.

7So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone. 8And when I beheld, see, the sinews and the flesh came up on them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them. 9Then said he to me, Prophesy to the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus said the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live. 10So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up on their feet, an exceeding great army.

The Vision Explained

11Then he said to me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts. 12Therefore prophesy and say to them, Thus said the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. 13And you shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves, 14And shall put my spirit in you, and you shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall you know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, said the LORD.

ONE NATION WITH ONE KING

15The word of the LORD came again to me, saying, 16Moreover, you son of man, take you one stick, and write on it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write on it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim and for all the house of Israel his companions:

17And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in your hand. 18And when the children of your people shall speak to you, saying, Will you not show us what you mean by these? 19Say to them, Thus said the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take

THE STICK OF JOSEPH, which is in the HAND OF EPHRAIM, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him,

even with THE STICK OF JUDAH, and  MAKE THEM ONE STICK, AND THEY SHALL BE ONE IN MY HAND.

22

20And the sticks where on you write shall be in your hand before their eyes. 21And say to them, Thus said the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, where they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:22And I will make them one nation in the land on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all.

65

23Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwelling places, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God.  24And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them. 25And they shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelled; and they shall dwell therein, even they, and their children, and their children’s children for ever: and my servant David shall be their prince for ever.

Everlasting Covenant of Peace

26Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the middle of them for ever more. 27My tabernacle also shall be with them: yes, I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 28And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the middle of them for ever more.

Yes, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delights in their abominations.  4I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears on them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spoke, they did not hear: but they did evil before my eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.  5Hear the word of the LORD, you that tremble at his word; Your brothers that hated you, that cast you out for my name’s sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.  6A voice of noise from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of the LORD that renders recompense to his enemies.

REJOICE WITH JERUSALEM

7BEFORE SHE TRAVAILED, SHE BROUGHT FORTH; BEFORE HER PAIN CAME, SHE WAS DELIVERED OF A MAN CHILD. 8Who has heard such a thing? who has seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or SHALL A NATION BE BORN AT ONCE? FOR AS SOON AS ZION TRAVAILED, SHE BROUGHT FORTH HER CHILDREN.  9Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? said the LORD: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? said your God.  10Rejoice you with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all you that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all you that mourn for her:  11That you may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that you may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory.  12For thus said the LORD, Behold, I WILL EXTEND PEACE TO HER LIKE A RIVER, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall you suck, you shall be borne on her sides, and BE DANDLED ON HER KNEES.  13As one whom his mother comforts, so will I comfort you; and you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

8And Israel beheld Joseph’s sons, and said, Who are these? 9And Joseph said to his father, They are my sons, whom God has given me in this place. And he said, Bring them, I pray you, to me, and I will bless them. 10Now the eyes of Israel were dim for age, so that he could not see. And he brought them near to him; and he kissed them, and embraced them. 11And Israel said to Joseph, I had not thought to see your face: and, see, God has showed me also your seed. 12And JOSEPH BROUGHT THEM OUT FROM BETWEEN HIS KNEES, AND HE BOWED HIMSELF WITH HIS FACE TO THE EARTH. 13And Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel’s left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel’s right hand, and brought them near to him. 14And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it on Ephraim’s head, who was the younger, and his left hand on Manasseh’s head, guiding his hands wittingly; for Manasseh was the firstborn.

15For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.  16For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many.  17  They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the middle, eating swine’s flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, said the LORD.  18For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory. 19And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them to the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles. 20And they shall bring all your brothers for an offering to the LORD out of all nations on horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and on mules, and on swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, said the LORD, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the LORD. 21And I will also take of them for priests and for Levites, said the LORD.

22FOR AS THE NEW HEAVENS AND THE NEW EARTH, WHICH I WILL MAKE, SHALL REMAIN BEFORE ME, SAID THE LORD, SO SHALL YOUR SEED AND YOUR NAME REMAIN.

And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off, 18And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like to this great city! 19And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.

23And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. 24For whoever will save his life shall lose it: but whoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. 25For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away? 26For whoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s, and of the holy angels. 27But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.

Matthew 3 : The Mission of John the Baptist

(Isaiah 40:1-5; Mark 1:1-8; Luke 3:1-20; John 1:19-28)

1In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, 2And saying, Repent you: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.  3For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare you the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.  4And the same John had his raiment of camel’s hair, and a leather girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey. 5Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan, 6And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.  7But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said to them, O generation of vipers, who has warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

8Bring forth fruit worthy of repentance

9And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say to you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham. 10And now also the ax is laid to the root of the trees: therefore every tree which brings not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

11I indeed baptize you with water to repentance. but he that comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear. he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire. 12Whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

ribbonJAMES 5

1 Go to now, [ye] rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon [you]. 2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten. 3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days. 4 Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth. 5 Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter. 6 Ye have condemned [and] killed the just; [and] he doth not resist you.  7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, THE HUSBANDMAN WAITETH FOR THE PRECIOUS FRUIT OF THE EARTH, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. 8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh. 9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.

Revelation 6 : THE SIXTH SEAL: TERROR

12And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, see, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;13And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, even as a fig tree casts her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. 14And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

15And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every slave, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; 16And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:

17  For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

ISAIAH 2 : THE MOUNTAIN OF THE LORD

1The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. 2And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it. 3And many people shall go and say, Come you, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. 5O house of Jacob, come you, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.

THE DAY OF THE RECKONING

6Therefore you have forsaken your people the house of Jacob, because they be replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers. 7Their land also is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures; their land is also full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots: 8Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made:  9And the mean man bows down, and the great man humbles himself: therefore forgive them not. 10Enter into the rock, and hide you in the dust, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty.11The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness  of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. 12For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be on every one that is proud and lofty, and on every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:

13And on all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, and on all the oaks of Bashan, 14And on all the high mountains, and on all the hills that are lifted up, 15And on every high tower, and on every fenced wall, 16And on all the ships of Tarshish, and on all pleasant pictures.

17  And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down,

and the haughtiness of men shall be made low:

and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.

18And the idols he shall utterly abolish.  19And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he rises to shake terribly the earth.  20In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made each one for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats;

21To go into the clefts of the rocks,

and into the tops of the ragged rocks,

for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty,

when he rises to shake terribly the earth.

22Cease you from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of ?
