And he said, I will not let you go, except you bless me. 27And he said to him, What is your name? And he said, Jacob. 28And he said, Your name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince have you power with God and with men, and have prevailed. 29And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray you, your name. And he said, Why is it that you do ask after my name? And he blessed him there. 30And Jacob called the name of the placePenuel [h6439]: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved. 31And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose on him, and he halted on his thigh. 32Therefore the children of Israel eat not of the sinew which shrank, which is on the hollow of the thigh, to this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob’s thigh in the sinew that shrank.

The third eye is often associated with

  • religious visions,
  • clairvoyance,
  • the ability to observe chakras and auras,
  • precognition,
  • andout-of-body experiences.

People who are claimed to have the capacity to utilize their third eyes are sometimes known asseers.

In some traditions such as Hinduism,

  • the third eye is said to be located around the middle of the forehead,
  • slightly above the junction of the eyebrows.

In New Agespirituality,

  • the third eye oftensymbolizesa state of enlightenment
  • or the evocation of mental images
  • having deeply personal, spiritual, or psychological significance.

THE THIRD EYE : PINEAL GLAND

(also called the mind’s eye, or inner eye) is a mystical and esoteric concept of a speculative invisible eye which provides perception beyond ordinary sight.[1]   The third eye refers to the gate that leads to inner realms and spaces of higher consciousness. In New Age spirituality, the third eye often symbolizes a state of enlightenment or the evocation of mental images having deeply personal spiritual or psychological significance. The third eye is often associated with religious visions, clairvoyance, the ability to observe chakras and auras,[3]precognition, and out-of-body experiences. People who are claimed to have the capacity to utilize their third eyes are sometimes known as seers.

In some traditions such as Hinduism, the third eye is said to be located around the middle of the forehead, slightly above the junction of the eyebrows.  In Theosophy it is related to the PINEAL GLAND..[12] According to this belief, humans had in far ancient times an actual third eye in the back of the head with a physical and spiritual function. Over time, as humans evolved, this eye atrophied and sunk into what today is known as the PINEAL GLAND. Dr. Rick Strassman has hypothesized that the pineal gland, which maintains light sensitivity, is responsible for the production and release of DMT (dimethyltryptamine), an entheogen which he believes possibly could be excreted in large quantities at the moments of birth and death.[13]

Adherents of theosophist H.P. Blavatsky[14] have suggested that the third eye is in fact the partially dormant pineal gland, which resides between the two hemispheres of the brain. Reptiles and amphibians sense light via a third parietal eye—a structure associated with the pineal gland—which serves to regulate their circadian rhythms, and for navigation, as it can sense the polarization of light. C.W. Leadbeater claimed that by extending an “etheric tube” from the third eye, it is possible to develop microscopic and telescopic vision.[3] It has been asserted by Stephen Phillips that the third eye’s microscopic vision is capable of observing objects as small as quarks.[15]

The THALAMUS (Inner Chamber) : situated between cerebral cortex and midbrain  contains the PINEAL Gland. Our Pineal Gland, shaped like (and named after) the PINECONE, is at the geometric center of our brain and is intimately linked to our body’s perception of light

The Pineal modulates our wake-sleep patterns and circadian rhythms, remains uniquely isolated from the blood-brain barrier system, and receives a higher percentage of blood flow than any other area of the body save the kidneys.  It is considered by many to be our biological Third Eye, the “Seat of the Soul,” the “Epicenter of Enlightenment” — and its sacred symbol throughout history, in cultures around the world, has been the Pinecone.

The spiral growth of branches, needles, and cone scales is arranged in Fibonacci number ratios. The new spring shoots are sometimes called “candles”; they are covered in brown or whitish bud scales and point upward at first, then later turn green and spread outward.

The Egyptian Staff of Osiris, dating back to approximately 1224 BC, depicts two intertwining serpents rising up to meet at a PINECONE.

Kundalini means  “a coiled feminine energy”. Modern scholars and philosophers have noted the staff’s symbolic parallels to the Indian “Kundalini,” a spiritual energy in the body depicted as coiled serpents rising up from the base of the spine to the Third Eye (Pineal Gland) in the moment of enlightenment. Awakened Kundalini represents the merging and alignment of the Chakras, and is said to be the one and only way to attain the “Divine Wisdom” bringing  pure joy, pure knowledge and pure love.

The Kundalini experience is reported to be a feeling of electric current (energy) running along the spine. The aim of yoga is to rouse the serpent, lift her head, and bring her up a subtle nerve or channel of the spine to the 1000 petal lotus at the crown of the head.  Kundalini awakening arises from deep meditation, pranatama breating, asana, and chanting of mantras

BUCKET AND CONE

refer to twin attributes that are frequently held in the hands of winged genies depicted in Neo-Assyrian art and especially Assyrian palace reliefs –

sometimes, however, only the bucket is held, and the other hand is held up in what may be a blessing gesture.  These objects are often displayed in association with a stylized tree, before floral decorations, guardian figures, the king and / or his attendants and open doorways or portals.[1]  The cone was apparently held up in the right hand, the bucket held hanging downwards in the left hand of the figure, which is almost always that of a winged genie or an animal-headed demon or monster (though not necessarily with the same negative connotations) – only very occasionally might these attributes be borne by a fully human figure.

As to the identity of the twin objects, the “cone” is generally recognised as a pine or fir cone (pinus brutia); alternative identifications suggest the male flower of the date palm, or as a clay model imitating the form of one or the other.[2]   The bucket was presumably either of metal or basketry and is thought to have held either water or pollen or both.  Although explanatory texts regarding these objects are exceedingly rare, it does seem likely that they were together employed in rituals of purification, as revealed by their Akkadian names: banddudû (“bucket”) and mullilu (“purifier”).[3]  In this case the fir cone would be dipped in the bucket of water before being shaken in order to ritually purify a person or object.[4]  Alternatively the close association of the objects with depictions of stylized trees has led to the suggestion that it depicts fertilization.[4]  In this case the pollen from the male flower of the date palm would be being shaken onto the tree.[4]Goliath was uncircumcised meaning he didn’t keep God’s commandments.

Chakra System

  • The lotus flower is also extremely symbolic in regards to a person’s chakra system.
  • These 7 major energy centers running from the base of the spine all the way up to the crown of the head located within a person’s body
    • are represented by a lotus flower,
    • each with a specific number of lotus petals for each individual chakra.
  • According to East Indian philosophy, we possess seven major *Chakras* or psychic centers on the body.
  • Each of these forms a bridge, link, or energy transformer;
    • changing pure (higher) energy into various forms,
    • and connecting the four bodies
    • (ie. spiritual, mental, astral, and physical) together.
  • The chakras are located along the nadies (a network of psychic nerves or channels) and follow the autonomic nervous system along the spinal cord.
  • Chakras correlate with major acupuncture points along the ‘governing vessel meridian’ (acupuncture term).
  • The seven major chakras are connected together by three major nadies which are parallel and near each other.
  • The middle nadi is called *sushumna* and it has neutral characteristics.
  • The nadi on the left (ie. nearest your left hand) is the *ida* nadi which has yin characteristics.
  • On the other side of sushumna (nearest your right hand) is the *pingala* nadi, having yang qualities.
  • Chakras are visible to clairvoyant sight as varously colored rotating circles or funnels.
  • In the East they are described as petaled flowers or lotuses.
  • While in Western Shamanism they are devined as Spirit Tunnels.
  • There are many minor chakras throughout the body but in this writing we will focus on the primary seven as the others are beyond the scope of this discussion.
  • Each chakra has a color and sound letter and a pitch associated with it which can be used to invoke it.

Chakra = “wheels of spinning energy”

  • is the sanskrit word forwheel” or “circle,”
    • because the chakras are energy centres,
    • thus when they are balanced they spin
    • and allow energy to flow up the spine (or the Kundalini).

Isaiah 11 : The Root of Jesse

1And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots2And the spirit of the LORD shall rest on him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; 3And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: 4But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth: with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. 5And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins. 6The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatted calf together; and a little child shall lead them. 7And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. 8And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den. 9They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. 10And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious. 11And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.12And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.  13The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim.  14But they shall fly on the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand on Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them. 15And the LORD shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the 7 streams, and make men go over with dry sandals. 16And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.

The spiritual symbolism of the lotus flower also had strong meaning amongst the ancient Egyptians. There are countless hieroglyphics that depict the lotus flower, and as with many other cultures, it is a symbol of rebirth. Because the lotus flower closes its petals at night and emerges back into the murky waters from which it came, then rises up again out of the water at dawn to bloom, the spiritual traditions of the Egyptians hold the lotus to represent the sun. This moves even deeper in symbolism to represent creation and the idea of rebirth. According to the ancient Egyptians, it was the lotus that gave birth to the sun.

The lotus flower is the most distinguished and recognizable symbol of Buddhism (and Hinduism). You will find it in every temple, pagoda and monument, both open, closed and in different colours.  Yet orthodox Buddhist do not know the full true meaning of the lotus flower – they only know the part truths told to them by the organised Buddhist religion.  Unlike the other seven codes in the catalogue of eight auspicious symbols promulgated by Buddhism, the interpretation behind the meaning of the lotus is perhaps as close to the truth as you can expect from an organised religion.

It represents purification of the mind and heart and the development of wisdom, virtues man must develop to attainment of enlightenment.  The lotus flower reflects human consciousness and experience, from the muddy roots of base consciousness to the higher realms of divine awareness. It symbolises the journey of man’s development and our quest for enlightenment.  The symbol of the lotus flower was adopted by buddhism from the hindu religion.

Numbers 24 : Balaam’s Third Oracle

1And when Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness. 2And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came on him. 3And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor has said, and the man whose eyes are open has said:  4He has said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:

Trance

  • denotes any state of awareness or consciousness other than normal waking consciousness.
  • Trance states may occur involuntarily and unbidden.

The term trance may be associated with

  • hypnosis,
  • meditation,
  • magic,
  •  flow,
  • and prayer.

It may also be related to the earlier generic term,

  • altered states of consciousness, which is no longer used in “consciousness studies” discourse.
  • Trance in its modern meaning comes from an earlier meaning
    • of “a dazed,
    • half-conscious or insensible condition or state of fear”,
    • via the Old French transe “fear of evil”,
    • from the Latin transīre “to cross”, “pass over”.
    • This definition is now obsolete.[1]

The following are some examples of trance states:

  • Enchantment: a psychological state induced by (or as if induced by) a magical incantation
  • A state of mind in which consciousness is fragile and voluntary action is poor or missing
  • A state resembling deep sleep
  • Capture: attract; cause to be enamored; “She/he captured all the men’s hearts”; in the sense of entranced
  • A condition of apparent sleep or unconsciousness, with marked physiological characteristics, in which the body of the subject is thought by certain people to be liable to possession
  • An out-of-body experience in which one feels they have passed out of the body into another state of being, a rapture, an ecstasy.
  • In a general way, the entranced conditions thus defined are divided into varying degrees of a negative, unconscious state, and into progressive gradations of a positive, conscious, illumining condition.
  • A state of hyper or enhanced suggestibility.
  • An induced or spontaneous sleep-like condition of an altered state of consciousness, which is thought by certain people to permit the subject’s physical body to be utilized by disembodied spirits or entities as a means of expression
  • An altered state of awareness induced via hypnosis in which unconscious or dissociated responses to suggestion are enhanced in quality and increased in degree
  • A state induced by the use of hypnosis; the person accepts the suggestions of the hypnotist
  • A state of consciousness characterized by extreme dissociation often to the point of appearing unconscious.

Trance conditions include

  • all the different states of mind,
  • emotions,
  • moods
  •  and daydreams that human beings experience.
  • All activities which engage a human involve the filtering of information coming into sense modalities,
    • and this influences brain functioning and consciousness.
  • Therefore, trance may be understood as a way for the mind to change the way it filters information in order to provide more efficient use of the mind’s resources.

Trance states may also be accessed or induced by

  • various modalities and is a way of accessing the unconscious mind for the purposes of relaxation, healing, intuition and inspiration.
  • There is an extensive documented history of trance as evidenced by the case-studies of anthropologists and ethnologists and associated and derivative disciplines.
  • Hence trance may be perceived as endemic to the human condition and a Human Universal.
  • Principles of trance are being explored and documented as are methods of trance induction.
  • Benefits of trance states are being explored by medical and scientific inquiry. Many traditions and rituals employ trance.
  • Trance also has a function in religion and mystical experience.

Castillo (1995) states that:

  • “Trance phenomena result from the behavior of intense focusing of attention, which is the key psychological mechanism of trance induction.
  • Adaptive responses, including institutionalized forms of trance,
    • are ‘tuned’ into neural networks in the brain
    • and depend to a large extent on the characteristics of culture.
  • Culture-specific organizations exist in the structure of individual neurons and in the organizational formation of neural networks.”

Hoffman (1998: p. 9) states that: “Trance is still conventionally defined as a state of reduced consciousness, or a somnolent state. However, the more recent anthropological definition, linking it to ‘altered states of consciousness’ (Charles Tart), is becoming increasingly accepted.”

Hoffman (1998, p. 9) asserts that: “…the trance state should be discussed in the plural, because there is more than one altered state of consciousness significantly different from everyday consciousness.”

1 CORINTHIANS 7 :  LIVE ACCORDING TO YOUR CALLING

17But as God has distributed to every man, as the Lord has called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches. 18Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised. 19Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing but the keeping of the commandments of God.

David slung a stone and hit Goliath in the FOREHEAD

1 Samuel 17 : David Accepts the Challenge

26And David spoke to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that kills this Philistine, and takes away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?27And the people answered him after this manner, saying, So shall it be done to the man that kills him.

DAVID SLAYS GOLIATH

48And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came, and drew near to meet David, that David hastened, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine. 49And David put his hand in his bag, and took there a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell on his face to the earth.   50So David prevailed over the Philistine with asling[H7050] and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but [there was] no sword in the hand of David. 51 Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.

REVELATION 17 : THE WOMAN ON THE BEAST

1And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying to me, Come here; I will show to you the judgment of the great whore that sits on many waters: 2With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. 3So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit on a scarlet colored beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet color, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:5And on her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH6And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.
